Bush's Signing Statements

Here is another way that the Bush/Cheney White House has circumvented the role of Congress. This tactic gives the executive branch nearly unlimited powers. CLICK HERE

  1. What's the problem? Congress isn't doing anything; and SOMEBODY's got to do it!

  2. The problem, Kitty, is that this tactic puts the executive branch into the legislative role, thus effectively reducing the safeguards of the founding father's attempts to ensure against an all-powerful executive (King). While we may not like what the Congress is doing, it doesn't help to eliminate the separation of powers enshrined in our constitution.

Given that the courts have been pretty effectively stuffed with followers of the present regime, we are very close to having an unfettered executive.

The answer is to strengthen the effectiveness of the legislative and judicial, not to abdicate to an all-powerful executive.

People on the right like to trumpet how our democracy is the best in the world, but we are in great danger of losing it, and may already be beyond saving it. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to respond to your query.

  3. Thank God the president who would be King is about to leave his throne. Gary is absolutely right.

  4. Remember, Darlene, that Bush is just a current face for the forces that would enslave us. He can, and will be replaced by another face unless we take strong action to put a stop to this creeping fascism.

  5. We have watched as this administration stole on liberty after another with barely a whimper from the media. I guess it's up to the Internet to save this nation.

    It's scary as h___!
